One of the major issues facing those who are gender diverse, women, or identified as different
in a multitude of ways, is safety. Being different marks one for harassment and attack. This conference will bring a focus to this issue and investigate its ramifications for all affected, including those potentially targeted and the community at large. Members
of both the York Community and the public at large are invited.
The conference will be organized around generations. The first speaker and panel will focus on youth, including school age children and families. The second speaker will concentrate on young adults, university students, and opportunities
for the future. The second panel will include established trans folk from different walks of life. The third speaker will discuss the future of trans as the community is merged into mainstream society, with special attention to those who might be left behind.
We will close with a non-denominational Trans Day of Remembrance meditation.
Keynote Speakers:
J Wallace, Rupert Raj, Monica Forrester
Panelists:
Kathy Witterick, Juli(a) Rivera, Sheila Cavanagh, Fiona Green, Syrus Ware Susan Gapka, Nael Bhanji
