Dear All,

On behalf of prof. Adrian Goldman, I would like to post a job opening
position (please, see below).

Best wishes,
Robert

A postdoctoral researcher position in macromolecular modeling will be
available at the University of Helsinki (Department of Biosciences) from
1.1.2014, until 30.06.2015 (project) with the possibility of further
employment, depending on grant funding.

The project is focused on development of new, groundbreaking technology
and its implementation in structural biology and commercial application.
The position requires a strong background in macromolecular modeling,
excellent interpersonal and communication skills, diligence, the
capacity to work in a team and independently, and the ability to look
critically at the results. The project involves protein modification
design and its subsequent computational assessment in order to enhance
or diminish interactions in a complex macromolecular environment. The
ultimate project goal is technology development sufficient to enable
commercial product generation.

This position is planned for funding by Tekes (the Finnish Funding
Agency for Technology and Innovation), starting from January 2014, with
the possibility for contract extension, depending on project success and
continued funding.

The successful candidate must hold a PhD degree in chemistry,
biochemistry, biophysics or a related field. S/he must have an excellent
computational background in modeling of biological molecules as
documented by peer-reviewed articles. Knowledge of cloning, protein
expression and characterisation, or protein crystallography will be
advantageous. Very good English is also essential in the position. An
ideal candidate would also have demonstrated industrial experience, for
instance in a startup company, with a desire to pursue
commercially-focused projects.

It will also require signing a legally binding letter of confidentiality.

In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to postpone the start
of the project, subject to additional written agreement.

The salary will be based on level 4-6 of the job demands level chart for
research and teaching personnel, depending on qualifications and
experience. The University of Helsinki has a performance related pay
scheme allowing up to an additional 46% on top of the basic rate.

The application should include a complete CV including education,
degrees obtained, a list of publications, prior work experience and the
names and contact information for two referees.

The applications should be sent to Professor Adrian Goldman
([log in to unmask]), no laterthan 30th of November 2013.
