Dear colleagues,
Could someone help me identify the items in the attached image? Two suggestions that have come up so far are Typha and Equisetum.
They are from a 9th-11th century A.D. monastic residence in Wadi El Natrun in the Egypt's western desert. The samples originate all from ash layers associated with ovens.
Typha elephantina (less so T. domingenis) is abundant in Wadi El Natrun.
Best regards,
Menna
