Subject: PMAPS 2014 paper deadline extended to 8 December (International Conference on Probabilistic Methods Applied to Power Systems, 7-10 July 2014, Durham, UK)

Dear all,

The paper submission deadline for the 2014 International Conference on Probabilistic Methods Applied to Power Systems is extended by 1 week to the end of Sunday 8 December (i.e. midnight UK time). This is to avoid the PMAPS and Power Systems Computation Conference deadlines falling on the same day, which a number of authors who wish to submit to both found difficult.

PMAPS will be held from 7-10 July 2014 in Durham, UK. Please see below for the Call for Papers, and details of IEEExplore archiving of the PMAPS proceedings.

Best regards,

Chris Dent (General Chair)

Janusz Bialek (Technical Chair)

On behalf of the organising committee

Subject: PMAPS 2014 awarded IEEE Technical Co-Sponsorship (International Conference on Probabilistic Methods Applied to Power Systems, 7-10 July 2014, Durham, UK)

Dear all,

I am very pleased to announce that the 2014 International Conference on Probabilistic Methods Applied to Power Systems has been awarded IEEE Technical Co-Sponsorship, and that after the event the presented papers will be sent to the IEEExplore archive.

IEEExplore is the leading archive of technical papers in power systems and related fields, and contains all IEEE and IET journal and conference papers. Work presented at PMAPS and archived in IEEExplore will thus have the highest possible visibility to the international community.

Please see below the Call for Papers – the paper submission website will be open soon, and the deadline for full papers is the last day of November. More details of the programme and venue may be found at www.dur.ac.uk/pmaps.2014.

If you have any questions on the technical programme, please email [log in to unmask]

Best regards,

Chris Dent (General Chair)

Subject: Call for Papers: PMAPS 2014 (International Conference on Probabilistic Methods Applied to Power Systems), 7-10 July 2014, Durham, UK

Dear all,

The 13th International Conference on Probabilistic Methods Applied to Power Systems will be held at Durham University from 7-10 July 2014. This is the leading specialist conference in the area, which is of increasing importance due to key applications such as renewables integration, risk-based asset management, and wider use of risk- and cost-based based decision making. It will provide a forum for exchange of ideas between researchers from industry and academia, and between the power systems community and other related communities such as mathematical sciences.

We are pleased to invite submission of papers for the event, whose scope covers all aspects of probabilistic and statistical modelling of electrical power systems. The deadline for full papers will be 30 November. Papers will be in six page IEEE conference format as for previous PMAPS conferences; the template is available at http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html (please note that this is slightly different from the IEEE Transactions format.) There is a single stage review process, with no earlier abstract submission stage.

The technical programme will consist of

 - Mon 7 July (AM). Parallel tutorials: Phil Taylor (Newcastle University) on smartgrid deployment, George Anders (Lodz University) on asset management, and Sean Meyn (Florida) on control of stochastic systems.

- Mon 7 July (PM). Opening plenary: Mark O'Malley (University College Dublin) on renewables integration, followed by an all-industry panel discussion.

- Tue 8 July and Wed 9 July: Parallel contributed paper sessions.

- Thu 10 July (AM): final contributed paper session and closing plenary.

The welcome reception will be on the Monday evening in Durham Castle, and the conference banquet on the Wednesday evening at Grey College.

The conference website is now available at www.dur.ac.uk/pmaps.2014 - this contains the initial programme and information on the City, University and travel. Full details of accommodation, fees, etc. will be added as they become available.

We hope very much that you will consider submitting a paper and attending the conference.

Best regards,

Chris Dent (General Chair)

Janusz Bialek (Technical Chair)
