Thanks Marion. We've just finished adding a large number of the films by Sam Hanna directly onto firstBASE - still a few more to go. They're a fantastic resource and will now come up with other material via a SHIC or keyword search on the site.

Best wishes

> Hi All,
> Recently SHCG was awarded money from ACE to commission the making of films as a resource for the SHCG database FirstBASE http://www.shcg.org.uk/firstBASE-home on the subject of ‘Tools for the Trade’. It is hoped that the primary aim of these films will be to help Social History Curators to identify both what sets of tools are and how they were used. The impetus for this project has come directly from evaluation undertaken with SHCG membership as some of you may remember. A Project Co-Ordinator, Sarah Hayes, has now been appointed to take the project forward and after a meeting of the FirstBASE editorial committee last week we’re asking for your assistance in identifying collections that might hold some of the sets of tools we are hoping to feature in the films, as well as specialists/curators/demonstrators whose knowledge and expertise we can use and show in these films. As you can see from the attached document we have come up with some trades/groups of tools that we would like to focus on and whilst we do have some ideas for collections and individuals we thought we would draw on the expertise of the group to send in their suggestions (suggesting yourself is perfectly acceptable!). If you could send any suggestions to Sarah at [log in to unmask] or if you have any further queries about the project please do feel free to contact myself via the list or at [log in to unmask]
