The Information and Records Management Society (IRMS) cordially invites all
Records, Information and Archive practitioners interested in those issues
affecting the profession in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to
a meeting of the IRMS Ireland regional group in the National Library of
Ireland (for directions please click on the following
<http://g.co/maps/jp9cx> link), on Thursday 14th November 2013.  The theme
of the meeting is ‘Records Management Challenges: Hard and Soft options’.
Examining and understanding how to manage records, is a must for anyone
responsible for Information Management within an organisation.  Leading
professionals from a variety of sectors will share their experience and
knowledge and offer practical solutions based on best practice.  IRMS
Ireland wishes to acknowledge the generous sponsorship of this meeting

our hosts, the National Library of Ireland.  

 

The Information and Records Management Society is the foremost professional
association for all those who work in or are concerned with records or
information management, regardless of their professional or organisational

Additional information on our speakers is below;

 

 

Kelly Meegan – Application IT Trainer

 

Kelly has worked as an Application/IT trainer for the last 16 years - both
directly with clients and sub-contracting with established training
organisations. Specialising in end-user application training such as
Microsoft SharePoint, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Business Objects
Crystal Reports, Kelly has also been involved in partnering with clients to
develop custom courses, induction programmes and product migrations with
associated courseware.

 

 

Liz Robinson - Records Manager, Health and Safety Authority - BA (Hons)
Education & Training,   Dip Information Studies

 

A Member of Information and Records Management Society, Liz assumed
responsibility for Records Management within HSA in 2003 and has since
overseen the development of HSA records management systems. This included
the design/implementation of the classification scheme, retention and
disposition scheduling, staff training, and initial set-up and on-going
management of archives.   

  

 

Simon Cole – Chief Technical Officer, Automated Intelligence

 

Simon has over thirteen years of experience in the Enterprise Content
Management Industry. During his career he held a global role leading the
records management strategy for Autonomy PLC. Prior to that, he drove
product direction for the Meridio product group. During his time with
Meridio he was responsible for establishing the US office and built a team
that drove the growth of the business.  He is currently an active member of
the EU level Document Lifecycle Management (DLM) Forum and was directly
engaged with the delivery and development of the new European standard,
MoReq2010.

 

 

Jennifer Kavanagh – Law Lecturer, Waterford Institute of Technology

 

Jennifer Kavanagh is a Law Lecturer in Waterford Institute of Technology and
a Ph.D. Candidate in the School of Law in Trinity College. Her research is
in the area of Constitutional Law, Media Law and Politics and the Law. Her
PhD thesis is on the link between the role of the citizen and the right to
freedom of expression in relation to accessing and shaping of government
policy. 

She is a member of Irish Political Studies Association, and the Irish
Association of Law Teachers. She is a regular contributor to the PSAI
website politicalreform.ie and has appeared on Tonight with Vincent Browne
programme on TV3 and the Week in Politics on RTÉ as a legal and political
commentator.

 

 

Zoë Smyth - Senior Records & Information Manager, Northern Ireland Civil
Service. 

 

Zoë is a qualified Archivist and Records Manager and has participated on the
International Records Management Committee since 2000. This committee has
commenced a major review of the foundation standard for the Records
Management profession, ISO15489. She is interested in the challenges and
options involved in this work, from an individual’s perspective and the
wider Records Management community.  

 

 

Sean Brady, CloudAssist

 

Sean Brady is a Software Engineer with a Master in Internetworking which led
him to create CloudAssist to simplify the data migration process to
Office365 for Enterprises. Sean has worked with the Enterprise Ireland and
Irish Internet Association’s Cloud Series roadshow where he outlined the
benefits of ‘Socialising your data’ using Office 365 based on a case study
migration. Sean also launched a non-profit organisation, Just Social, that
aims to help Irish Charities to socialise their data using free Office 365
donations which was picked by Web Summit last year as the ‘Best IT idea for
the NGO space’.
