STEM Programmes Manager



Salary range £16,000 - £25,000

(depending on experience)



Full time - 37.5 hours per week

This post is suitable for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with a passion and commitment to science learning and public engagement.



Dundee Science Centre is proud to be the STEMNET (science, technology, engineering and mathematics network) hub for North East Scotland, providing the STEM Ambassador programme and schools STEM advisory service across Dundee, Angus, Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen, and Perth and Kinross. Dundee Science Centre is also proud to be regional advisor to STEM Clubs in North East Scotland and Highlands and Islands regions.



As a member of the management team, the post holder will be responsible for coordinating and delivering the STEM Ambassador Programme, school STEM advisory service and STEM Club support for the region. You will facilitate high quality STEM experiences for learners, in order to inspire, engage and enthuse them about STEM subjects and careers.   You will liaise with schools across the region; building meaningful relationships with all secondary schools in order to support their STEM programme development and provide advisory services.  You will recruit, induct, train and deploy STEM Ambassadors.  You will initiate and deliver STEM events and projects, for ambassadors and school and public audiences.



Dundee Science Centre is looking for an outstanding individual with excellent communication and management skills.  You will be an enthusiastic and creative team player with experience and knowledge of high quality science learning techniques and with an excellent understanding of the Curriculum for Excellence.  You will possess a passion for STEM subjects in addition to excellent interpersonal and administrative skills, and an ability to build meaningful and beneficial relationships.



A degree in a relevant subject, experience in delivering high quality learning activities and experience in working with secondary school teachers are essential; experience in classroom teaching desirable. Excellent administrative, IT, organisational and time management skills are essential requirements of the post holder. A driving licence is also required.



The position of STEM Programmes Manager is full time, for an initial 12 month period with continuation subject to funding for the post.  Some weekend and evening work will be required. The post will require extensive travel across the region.
