Background information

The Society of Biology has recently gained funding from the Welsh Government for a project entitled "Gopher Science Labs for Wales" (GSLW) http://www.gopherscience.net/. GSLW aims to engage inquisitive primary age children in science by providing them opportunities to experience practical work. In addition the project is designed to increase the confidence of primary teachers to deliver more hands-on science in the classroom.

The GSLW project has several strands, including twilight teacher training sessions for primary teachers, development (and translation to Welsh) of resource sheets and practical protocols and GSLW will facilitate secondary schools and local primary schools working together.
