NEW VACANCY: Festivals & Community Engagement Manager

Salary range £16,000 - £25,000 (depending on experience)

Full time - 37.5 hours per week

 

This post is suitable for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with a commitment to science learning and a passion for community engagement.

 

As a senior member of the Science Learning Team, you will hold responsibility for the delivery of Dundee Science Centre’s festival and community engagement programme. You will be responsible for promoting and coordinating community engagement with science through facilitation of science festivals, public and community group visits to science centres, and community outreach.  You will be responsible for the coordination of science festivals led by Dundee Science Centre, and will lead project management, fundraising applications, liaison with partners and evaluation of these events. You will be responsible for leading the development of Dundee Science Centre’s links with the community - identifying interests and needs, raising awareness of what science engagement opportunities are available and coordinating inreach/outreach visits for specific community groups.  You will build meaningful relationships with community groups from the most economically deprived and geographically remote communities in our region, and support them to engage with Dundee Science Centre.

 

Dundee Science Centre is looking for an outstanding individual with: a passion and enthusiasm for learning and community engagement with STEM;  a wide range of experience in coordinating and managing festivals/projects concurrently; experience of fundraising for STEM engagement projects; an excellent ability to work in partnership with further and higher education, industry, and other science engagement and cultural providers; an excellent ability to build meaningful relationships with community groups and networks; experience of managing budgets and promoting events; excellent ability to initiate and evaluate public engagement projects and events, as well as possessing excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. 

 

Qualification or knowledge/experience in event management is required. Experience in the management, coordination and evaluation of public engagement events and festivals is essential. Experience of fundraising for engagement projects is essential. Experience of collaboration and partnership working across departments, organisations and professions is required. A driving licence is required. Experience of liaising with higher education and industry to incorporate their discoveries into community learning experiences is desired. Experience of working in a visitor attraction is desired.
