Apologies for cross-posting

Many of us in Natural History find ourselves dealing with human remains in our collections, so this course will be appropriate for those wanting a better idea of the legal situation regarding human remains and the relevant current ethical concerns associated. Places are limited, so book early and if demand is high NatSCA will talk to the Human Remains Specialist Subject Network and the Museum Ethnographers Group about organising an additional workshop for NatSCA members.

Curating human remains in UK museums

Wednesday 26 February 2014, 10.30am – 5.00pm

Royal College of Surgeons, 35-43 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London

Jointly organised by the Human Remains Specialist Subject network and the Museum Ethnographers Group.

This workshop is aimed at professionals who are responsible for the management and care of human remains, whether these are skeletonised individuals or ethnographic objects incorporating human remains.

The day will address the ethics and practice of caring for human remains in an institution, and includes a hands-on workshop focusing on the packing and storing of human remains. The speakers include curators and conservators from the Natural History Museum, Royal College of Surgeons and the Museum of London.

This event costs £30 and participation is open to all. Lunch will be provided.
