Call for Papers

In our increasingly global world, the health of mothers, infant, and children and youth populations has become an important global health issue. This is more important in developing countries where maternal and child is deteriorating due to the HIV/AIDS epidemic ravaging populations in developing world. In many developed countries, marked disparities exist in the health status, access, and the social determinants of health and disease among different population groups. There is an urgent need to collect, document, and disseminate the existing and emerging issues on the intersection between maternal and child health and HIV/AIDS.

The International Journal of MCH and AIDS (IJMA), a global health journal provides a platform through which researchers, as well as program and policy makers, can learn about the various factors that contribute to the health and well-being of mothers, infants and children, and the entire family and how the HIV/AIDS is decimating the gains in those sectors. The journal focuses on empirical findings from around the world. Papers from developing as well as developed countries, exploring international, national, and local levels. Research articles and rigorous meta-analyses are welcome. Ideas for review articles on MCH and HIV/AIDS in the broader areas of global health will be considered.

IJMA editorial board accepts and publishes high quality manuscripts on a rolling basis. Manuscripts that do not meet the immediate deadline of a particular issue are automatically considered for the next issue. Authors will receive an email confirmation acknowledging receipt of their manuscripts within three days of manuscript submission.

Areas of Coverage: For more information on the scope and topics covered in the journal, prospective authors are encouraged to review the journal’s scope at www.mchandaids.org/

Call for National/Regional Review Papers

Overarching theme: “Addressing Maternal and Child Health and/or HIV/AIDS Issues in Developing Countries: Progress, Prospects and Challenges.”

Do you have an extensive knowledge of an MCH or HIV/AIDS issue in your country of region of the world?

Are you ready and willing to share your massive knowledge of an MCH or HIV/AIDS issue to a global audience?

Do you have the skills (and also willing to learn the skills through collaboration with other international colleagues) to document your findings through quantitative or qualitative methods?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then please read on.

The International Journal of MCH and AIDS (IJMA) invites review papers that provide regional or cross-national review of the progress, prospects and challenges of addressing maternal and child health and HIV/AIDS issues in developing countries. This is an excellent opportunity for researchers to work in groups or individually within their countries/regions to share country or regional progress in these two core areas of the journal—MCH and HIV/AIDS. These review articles will offer research teams opportunity to lean back on the history as well as current evolution of global health efforts to address specific or broad MCH and HIV/AIDS in their nations or regions. Reviews emanating from collaborations between researchers in the global North and South are most welcomed.

Depending on the country or region of choice, IJMA intends to publish these reviews with such titles as “Addressing Maternal and Child Health Issues in South East Asia: Progress, Prospects and Challenges.” IJMA Editors are specifically looking for regional reviews from the following developing world regions:

  *   South East Asia
  *   Sub-Saharan Africa
  * Middle East and North Africa
  *   Latin America and Caribbean

Abstract Submission: Prospective authors interested in working on one or more of these review articles should send a 500-word structured abstract of their proposed topic to Dr. Romuladus Azuine, [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Abstracts will be accepted on a rolling basis but abstracts submitted before October 31, 2013 will receive priority reviews.

Prospective authors will receive an acknowledgment and a decision within one week of submission of review proposal abstract. Intensive technical assistance will be offered to authors whose abstracts are accepted for full manuscript development, if necessary. All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed and published rapidly online and promoted within the global health and public policy circles in Washington, DC, USA and around the world.
