Hi Leanne
We were small and beautiful too. We gave three written warnings and then just issued an ultimatum asking them to pay the total book price. To be fair we had few transgressors, and occasionally ended up going to collect the books ourselves from far flung corners of Essex, but the threat usually worked and is possibly more manageable that a fine system ?

Best wishes from wet and windy Colchester.

Barbara

Hello,

We are a small but beautiful (in a brown and pink 1970's retro style) NHS library and currently we do not charge fines for overdue books.
I am considering implementing fines from 1/4/14 and I would be grateful for any hints and tips on how to make this process painless. I would also be interested in knowing if charging fines has reduced the amount of books that do not get returned or if you invoice more as fines have no effect. What made you decide on your current fine charges? If recently implemented- what opposition did you encounter?

Thanks ever so much,

Over and out (from a wind battered Norfolk)

L
