Dear all For the last 2 years I have been gathering feedback via email from undergraduate business students at the end of sessions. Just before close of session I ask students to send me a quick email there and then (instructions displayed on screen) with: 2 things they have found useful and 1 thing they are going to do as a result of the session. This tends to focus on the positive, but I think that it is important for the students to finish on a high note and they can reflect on their learning and next steps at the same time. The emails provide really valuable information because I can quickly see areas of strength / learning and areas which may need some follow-up. This can feed in to future session plans, as well as immediate feedback to individual students. In addition, I also then have a bank of positive learning quotes to draw from, which I can then use to promote the sessions to the next cohort of students, or to academic staff if the tutor changes from one year to the next. I thought about replacing this method with an online survey (and used to do feedback sheets) but a quick email helps build up the relationship also. It takes a little bit of follow-up, (mainly just organising emails to a dated folder and reading through / replying to responses), but is well worth the effort. And if a student gets in touch at a future date I can refer back to emails to see if I've had contact with them before. Ask for 1 WWW (What Went Well) and 1 EBI (Even Better If) all students are expected to hand you 2 post it notes before they leave. You can then survey in more depth if you need to to but at least you have immediate feedback with this method. Karen Karen Robinson Research and Development Leader Bolingbroke Academy. Ask their tutor for general comments afterwards, contact them afterwards via Survey Monkey, or give them a feedback sheet to complete at the end of the session? Or something I haven't thought of? Any examples of feedback questions would also be welcome.
