Groundwork London Job Vacancy

Head of GIS

Salary: Circa £40,000

Groundwork London’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Team provides innovative GIS services to external organisations and internally to teams within Groundwork in London and nationally. As our new Head of GIS, this is where your leadership and management skills as well as your technical expertise will come into their own.

You’ll manage the GIS Team and further develop external and internal relationships. The role will see you ensure the effective delivery of existing GIS services, which currently include interactive web mapping, managing mobile data collection, bespoke data collection and information management systems. The team also handles desktop analysis and map production, often combining data from different sources, and manages our national OS data.

As importantly, you’re going to lead on the development of new opportunities and services by maintaining and developing client relationships, winning new work and making sure projects are delivered on time and to budget.

You’ll also need to keep abreast of emerging GIS and data management technology - especially how it could apply to our projects – lead on solving non-standard problems, and provide complex GIS data analysis, visualisations and interpretation for a wide range of clients. Overseeing the final outputs from the team and how GIS is used by Groundwork staff round off a broad, changing brief.

Management responsibilities including strategies, plans and budgets will be part of your remit, so besides your Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field, and the fact that you hold or are working towards CGeog, you’ll be an experienced business leader outside the academic field. In addition, you’ll work effectively at senior management level to deliver business development and income generation.

It’s a role which will make the most of your academic expertise and business acumen.

This is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week, based in London Waterloo.
