Subject: Victory! Euthanasia and assisted suicide laws upheld by court in Canada

Great News We Won:
1. The BC Court of Appeal, today, upheld Canada's laws which equally protect all Canadians from euthanasia and assisted suicide by striking down the disasterous decision by Justice Smith in the Carter case<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2012/06/bc-suprme-court-decision-to-legalize.html>. Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC) media release: Euthanasia Prevention Coalition Applauds ruling of BC Appeal Court in Assisted Suicide ruling<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/10/euthanasia-prevention-coalition.html>.

2. * The Globe and Mail has an online poll on assisted suicide<http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health-and-fitness/vote-should-physician-assisted-suicide-be-legalized-in-canada/article650926/%3bjsessionid=2L1BSWwd3C5KvFvw0tqySYjh2cHlFmtgLqDjvNyJ0GsLKrhnZC2L!-1154284708/>. PLEASE VOTE NOW. We have incurred significant legal expenses in our intervention of the Carter case at the BC Court of Appeal. We need at least $15,000 to pay off our legal bills. Please donate to our legal fund<http://www.epcc.ca/contact-us/donate/>.

3. We hope that the BC Court of Appeal decision will stop the Quebec National Assembly from passing Bill 52<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/06/quebec-euthanasia-bill-52-very.html>, a bill that seeks to legalize euthanasia in Quebec by redefining it as "Medical Treatment." If Bill 52 <http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/06/quebec-euthanasia-bill-52-very.html> is passed in Quebec, EPC predicts that it will be struck down by the courts.

4. You can still register <http://www.epcc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/EuthanasiaSymposium.pdf> for the Euthanasia Symposium 2013<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/09/the-euthanasia-symposium-2013-at.html> - November 8/9 in Toronto. If you cannot attend please donate $129.00 <http://www.epcc.ca/contact-us/donate/> to enable a student or a person with a disability to attend.

5. The amazing victory in British Columbia might help HOPE Australia and REALdignity Tas defeat the euthanasia bill in Tasmania. The Tasmanian government use the Carter case in their information.
Link to a Tasmanian Academic Paper that is critical of the Tasmanian euthanasia bill<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/10/academic-paper-critical-of-tasmanian.html>.

6. We are fortunate that the BC Court of Appeal upheld Canada's laws prohibiting euthanasia and assisted suicide. Belgian MP's are currently debating extending euthanasia to children with disabilities and people with dementia<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/10/belgian-mps-debating-extending.html>.
