1)      MAPPING  THE AUDIOVISUAL  INDUSTRIES IN EGYPT & MOROCCO
Euromed Audiovisual III and the European Audiovisual Observatory have set up a data collection initiative covering the film and audiovisual markets of nine Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia). Dr Sahar Ali will present findings from the reports on Egypt and Morocco, as well as discuss the Euromed Film Catalogue, launched in Cannes 2013 to boost the promotion of Arab & South Mediterranean films.

2)      NEW WAVES IN AFRICAN CINEMA: SOUTH AFRICA TO IVORY COAST
Our panellists take stock of the current flourishing of African cinema and discuss the local, regional and international actors driving the continent’s film industries. What new opportunities are emerging and what challenges remain? What impact do European initiatives, such as Open Doors, which help early-career filmmakers, have on the ground? And what is needed most to ensure the sustainability of the different industries? As part of this session, Ananda Scepka will present funding opportunities available through the Open Doors Co-production Lab programme from Festival del film Locarno, which this year focuses on 25 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa.

Panel: Jahmil X.T. Qubeka (director), Armand-Brice Tchikamen (producer/director), Michael Auret (Managing Director, Spier Films), Ananda Scepka (Head, Open Doors). Chair: Suzy Gillett (Curator, Film Africa).

3)      BEYOND THE VIDEO BOOM: NIGERIAN CINEMA TODAY
Marking the long-term success and coming of age of Nollywood, key players in the Nigerian film scene discuss the shifting priorities in the Nigerian film market, the government interest in training and the move to higher quality film.

Panel: Michelle Bello (producer/director), Jessica Hope (Head of Global Communications, iROKOtv), Kola Munis (producer). Chair: Nadia Denton (film industry expert and author of The Nigerian Filmmaker’s Guide to Success: A New Chapter in Nigerian Cinema).
