Greetings One and All,

The cold weather is starting to check-in, but just before it does completely why not come down to the V&A on Friday 18 October and soak up some Lovers Rock and UK Soul 70s & 80s style - all courtesy of the Club to Catwalk: 80s Fashion in London Exhibition Season!

There are two events as listed below, one is FREE & DROP-IN and the other is ticketed at £5.  Read on to find out more and how to book for event no. 2, which still has about 30 tickets left!

Please feel free to FORWARD this email to your family, friends, colleagues and discerning lovers and soulters.  Can I gently remind you please to also bring along your favourite 70s and 80s stories, album covers, photographs, magazines and greeting cards and include them in our impromptu public pop-up display.  Come in your 70s and 80s retro outfits and have your photograph taken to celebrate the night.

Finally the evening begins at 18.30 until 21.45 - arrive in good time, there should be something for everyone.  When you arrive come to the main entrance on Cromwell Road and go straight to the Reception desk and ask for a DAY SHEET FOR THE LOOKING SWEET UK SOUL AND LOVERS ROCK EVENTS.  This will tell you the location of where the different activities for the event are taking place.  Please show the Day Sheet and ask the visitor and gallery services staff wearing orange ties for directions of where you need to go.

UK Soul and Lover Rock Panel
Friday 18 October 2013, 18.30 – 19.45
Fee: £5, no concessions

To book call the Bookings Team on 0207 942 2211 or go to www.vam.ac.uk/whatson and search for ‘Lovers Rock Panel’.

Be a part of this showcase panel of industry specialists Dennis Bovell (record producer and musician), Lindsay Wesker (writer, DJ and broadcaster), Dave VJ (DJ, broadcaster and entrepreneur), Sonia Poulton (writer and broadcaster) and chaired by Mykaell Riley (Westminster University, Steel Pulse) as they relive the sounds of the 1970s and 1980s UK Soul invasion and the sweet falsetto that was Lovers Rock. How did underground radio, the record shops that were the hang outs for the latest tunes and hippest fashions, the club scene that cemented many new relationships, subcultures and countless new dances impact on British music and style today.
