Following the announcement of the AHRC Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/midlands-3-cities/index.aspx), a £14.6 million consortium that will create 410 PhD studentships and join the expertise of the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, The University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, The University of Leicester and De Montfort University, we are delighted to announce a range of AHRC-funded PhD and MA opportunities in the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies. We encourage applications for PhD and MA study in the following areas:


Film and Television Studies
Cultural Studies and Critical Theory
American and Canadian Studies
Comparative Literature
French Language & Culture
German Language & Culture
Iberian & Latin American Language & Culture
Russian, Slavonic & Eastern European Language & Culture
Translation Studies

The deadline for completed AHRC applications is 9th January 2014 but to be eligible for consideration for one of these awards you must first have been accepted for a place on the course and have discussed your funding application fully with your prospective Department.

In addition there will be a number of MA, MRes and PhD Studentships and bursaries offered by the School. For details of the application procedure for these awards and of other funding for which you may be eligible, please contact the Postgraduate and Research Office in the first instance:
