Have you seen the attached?

The latter is available from Tynetec, one of the more progressive telecare equipment providers. It wont work for everyone, especially if they are determined fiddlers, but it will be enough to deter some people. Perhaps more significantly, it is easy to put in place, doesn't need an electrician, and would work in anyone's home to prevent kids from switching off the fridge or freezer.

Cheers,

Kevin

Hi Aidan

It cuts the supply, I presume it breaks the live?
In this situation being confused about the change in design doesn’t as much of an issue as it might have been, because you don’t want them fiddling in any case ?!, but if it is an issue you could disable the toggle switch and install a slightly remote locking device,

Thanks, Jeremy, I’ll pass this on – slight concern about fitting a new socket (change in appearance) but it is probably what is wanted by my enquirer.

Excuse my ignorance, but does this prevent plug-in, or switch off electrical supply?

Cheers,

Aidan.

HI all,

I’ve had an enquiry from someone who is supporting a person with dementia. They would like to be able to ‘lock’ the socket nearest the microwave to prevent use with some sort of plug-in cover.

Any suggestions welcome.

Cheers,

Aidan.
