A simple alternative to a measuring box is to use a drawing board covered with graph paper; plus a carpenter’s wooden mitre box sawn in half to make two right-angle blocks; plus a metal ruler.

I apologize for my delayed response, but I couldn't let this slip away without pointing to some rather reasonable alternatives re: measuring box.

Since the measuring box on http://paleo-tech.com/ is listed for $625.00, I would like to bring several more affordable and equally functional alternatives to your attention if you are not able or willing to spend that amount.

I purchased one of the fish measurement boards from Forestry Suppliers website some years ago and have had no problem with ease of use and accuracy.

If you go to the fish equipment website listed below, you will find quite a few fish measuring boards that are made of hard and durable plastic, that have a central measuring tape or ruler, and that are light weight and portable for field use. Hi Albina
I assume you mean large curved calipers for doing eg skulls?  I got some through a shop that sells woodturning equipment - you may have somewhere local or you could try the internet for this.  They use them for making wooden bowls.  Mine just have the caliper part and then you hold it up against a ruler to get the measurement, so it is accurate to say 0.5mm.

I have seen measuring boxes on-line but they were always hundreds of Euros so I got a friend to make one up for me using solid bits of wood and with a metal ruler screwed to the baseplate.  I showed him pictures of what I wanted.  If you want I can email you a photo of what he made and you can copy it.
