The University of Westminster is recruiting for a new research position. Do please feel free to circulate this message to potentially interested applicants.

Position: Senior Research Fellow (Air Traffic Management)
Salary: £45,156 - £51,636 per annum (including London Weighting Allowance)
Department: Dept of Planning and Transport, Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment
Location: Marylebone Site, Central London

Located in the heart of London, near Baker Street, the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment is one of the UK's leading providers of transport research, consultancy and education. With a large and diverse staff base and excellent links with practice, the Faculty has recently undergone a £20m refit, ensuring state of the art facilities for students and staff.

The Department of Planning and Transport has been engaged in air transport research, consultancy and teaching for 40 years. For the past 15 years, air traffic management has been a core area of research with a strong international reputation and with particular emphasis on economics, operations and performance.

We are now looking to expand this research area through the appointment of a Senior Research Fellow, who will:

• develop research objectives and proposals, identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds, generating income and obtaining consultancy projects;

• have expertise in quantitative methods (preferably with modelling experience) and be entirely comfortable critically assessing and analysing large datasets;

• independently participate in external networks, building relationships for future activities, and attend research meetings / present at conferences elsewhere in Europe several times a year;

• command a high standard of English with the ability to work independently on project deliverables and research papers.

Good knowledge of current and planned future practice in European air traffic management is highly desirable, although a sufficiently motivated candidate would be considered if fully committed to acquiring such knowledge during the first six months of the appointment (with close guidance and advice).

For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Dr Andrew Cook, Principal Research Fellow (Air Traffic Management), by e-mail in the first instance: [log in to unmask]
