Read the message below: China launches a contest… for only American writers, or writers of all nationalities but, based in the US.

Americans screenwriter, writing about Chinese Bejing Culture. Is this a topic for screenwriters research?   I feel furious about EU politicians. Why can't we write about Chinese culture? Because we are only interested in ourselves?  Apparently, the lobby machine of the EU fails. We will approach EU directors with this Chinese message. I am curious about their intelligent reaction (if they are back from their holidays, because that is more important than screenwriters).

After the conference in Madison, I spoke with an American attorney (in Chicago). He told me: the American 3D movies become more and more a JOINT VENTURE with China, Bejing (he gave me different examples). China is investing in Hollywood movies (only Hollywood movies). On the other hand, Hollywood is slowly moving to China, Vietnam and Malaisia. Huge studios are built in Asia.  I don't know what influence that has on international screenwriting.
I am sorry, American colleagues, who didn't know this message. It could have been an opportunity for you too.  I only know about this contest, since yesterday.  It is too late now. The deadline is passed.

The American attorney added one point, interesting for screenwriting research. If you write for China, Bejing, the Chinese government should agree with the content of your screenplay. A challenge?

All the best,

Hugo
