Very cool! Always interested in hearing from Nobel laureates. During my
time at the Ford Foundation I made a timeline of all foundation grantees
who went on to become Laureates, and it was really interesting reading
about their lives.

women will make the ranks in the coming years.
Thanks!

Hello all,

I just wanted to let you all know about a project that I'm working on
that might be of particular interest to my fellow PSCI-COM members - the
Nobel Prize Inspiration Initiative (NPII).
NPII aims to inspire and communicate with a global audience of
scientists, at all stages of their career, by sharing personal insights
of Nobel Laureates.
Several NPII events have already taken place, and in each, a Nobel
Laureate visits a number of Universities and participates in a series of
lectures, Q&A sessions and discussion panels, with particular emphasis
on promoting informal interactions with younger scientists.

The video content captured during each event has now (finally) been
made public via a new site (launched on Monday 23rd September):
http://www.nobelprizeii.org/
This site currently contains 140 short (and we hope, inspirational!)
clips of Nobel Laureates in conversation with young scientists. We have
even more great clips in waiting in the wings that we will share soon,
and another event before Christmas.... this is just the start!
The Laureates share their insights on everything from communicating
research and career options to maintaining a good work-life balance. And
if you've ever wondered what being awarded a Nobel Prize means to a
scientist, you'll find some interesting answers on there too.
We are really proud of the site and think that we've captured some
invaluable clips that will engage and inspire a generation of
scientists. I'd love to get as much traffic to the site as possible, and
to start some discussions on individual videos, so please have a look
and let me know what you think.
We also have a Twitter account and a FB page - it would be great if you
could follow / like us there too!
 Thanks a million,
 Laurie Winkless
