Thanks. I too can't go for various reasons, but I'll certainly tune in.

Lorna you will definitely be missed. You may know this already but there is online delivery of the guest and keynote speeches.

'we will use Adobe Connect to allow a remote audience to hear and see your talk and to take part remotely ... whilst the talk is going on our online moderators (a small team led by Richard Goodman) will be monitoring/moderating any comments or questions that remote participants are raising using Adobe Connect's text chat and via Twitter #altc2013, and the session chair will feed some of these through to you during the questions and discussion part of your talk.

Just copied this from ALT's briefing.

Sounds like there will be lots of interesting presentations on Open Education at ALT-C this year! Phil and I did have a paper on ebooks and open etextbook developments accepted but unfortunately I won't be able to go due to current lack of employment. I'm sure it'll be a great conference though and hopefully I'll be there again next year!

All the best

Hi David and everyone

Yes I will be mentioning all kinds of openness as well as some cartoon characters in my talk and I'm also doing a session about personal learning strategies for MOOCs.

Thanks Chris - and thank you Martin and Therese. I note also Sheila MacNeill is an invited speaker, and it would appear quite likely she would mention open education (and sponge-bob squarepants!) A glance across the programme confirms a fair number of OER/Open presentation - I mainly asked the Q here to give people a chance to plug their session ;-)

Thanks for the OE SIG reminder - I'll be there!

The good ALT-C folk selected openness as a theme and invited me as a guest speaker with open resources as my suggested topic. My talk is: Three ages of openness: Open Resources as a lifelong habit - its very much looking at what's in it for the individual practitioner.

I would imagine that many others are also taking up openness but perhaps this will be not so much linked to projects but post-project activity? Looking at http://www.alt.ac.uk/sites/default/files/assets_editor_uploads/ALTC2013ttblv15_20130829_FINAL_0.pdf the innovation theme is more popular with submissions judging by the colour coding. It will be interesting to find out to what extend 'open' is a given when talking about 'building new cultures of learning'.

Like sound of Terese's session and will definitely make a date with that one. :-)

Those that are going please note that there is an Open Education SIG meeting on Tuesday 10th (17.25-18.15) in the Conference Theatre. I know that ALT would really like to do a strong relaunch of this so please come along if you are interested in the plans for this SIG.

I am speaking on 'China is harvesting your iTunes U' which is based on my work looking at iTunes U as a way of reaching overseas students --- I found some interesting open ed activity in China.

So that's one of us!

Hello all - how many list members do we have presenting at ALT-C? And how many are presenting on open education related matters? I was just thinking that OER has pretty much dominated ALT for the past few years... I wonder if it would be the same this year?
