We are currently developing a guideline at a large New Zealand tertiary hospital to recommend deferred cord clamping (DCC) for most term babies born spontaneously, by instrumental birth and by caesarean section. Our aim is to develop this guideline and implement it in practice before moving on to develop a guideline for DCC at preterm births. I am aware of the recent systematic reviews on this issue. I have come across some literature linking immediate cord clamping at caesarean section with respiratory distress syndrome for term babies but not enough yet to include this as part of the evidence for DCC at CS. Does anyone know whether this link has been proven? I am interested in any references for DCC at caesarean section for term babies.
