>
> http://www.amasa-project.eu/dissemination-event-in-london/
>
> Friday 18 October2013
> Queen Mary, University of London
>
> This free event is open to all who are interested in drug policy and pharmaceutical science and regulation.
>
> Presenting the results of more than three years of international research, the event addresses various aspects of the drug distribution and supply chain:
>
> Pharmacovigilance
> The India Drugs and Cosmetics Act
> Drug Registration and Regulatory capacity in India, South Africa and Uganda
> Case studies of evidence, efficacy and access for seven tracer medicines
> Clinical trials, surrogate endpoints, FDCs and rational drug research and production
> Challenges for need, safety, effectiveness and rational medicine
> The WHO essential medicines list
>
> Findings from the AMASA research will help to guide health policy decisions concerned with accessibility, affordability, acceptability, and the appropriate use of essential medicines. Other developing countries, as well as international agencies, will benefit from these results.
>
> Our work raises the following questions:
>
> What role does science play in the decisions of the WHO EML committee?
> What does the new Indian Drug Act need to include?
> What role do fixed dose combinations play and what should be the regulatory safeguards?
> Do national drug regulators have adequate safeguards to promote efficacy and safety?
> Can pharmacovigilance work without a strong health system?
> What role does civil society play in influencing registration and roll out of medicines at national level and within the WHO?
> Should countries adopt workforce planning norms for regulation and inspection and the role of the WHO?
> What is to be done about growth in non inferiority trials and use of surrogate endpoints in trial design?
>
> This will be a free event but please send us your confirmation of participation by 01 October 2013.
