Postdoctoral Fellowship in Preventive Health Research

The PERFORM Centre at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, an innovative
research institute focused on preventive health research and promotion, is
accepting qualified applicants for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship
position.

The PERFORM Centre is a cross-disciplinary centre with a comprehensive
platform for addressing prevention and health promotion, including the
highest quality imaging tools (MRI, PET/CT, SPECT/CT, DEXA, U/S), a
metabolic kitchen, fullyequipped cardiopulmonary units and physical
training facility, functional assessment suites and teaching labs to support
research and community programs for students and the community at large.
Our multidisciplinary group of researchers have backgrounds in diverse
specialties including psychology, exercise science/kinesiology, physics,
chemistry, social sciences, business, geriatrics/gerontology, preventative
cardiology, biomedical, computer and electrical engineering.

General Conditions:
PERFORM postdoctoral candidates will have a PhD degree, MD or equivalent
(received no earlier than December 2010) and a background or strong desire
to acquire specialization in a field of research related to disease
prevention through lifestyle choices. Areas of interest include psychology,
medical and biological sciences, exercise physiology/kinesiology,behavioral
sciences, public policy and/or health economics. An interest in
multidisciplinary research and innovative methods would be an asset.

Although Fellows are expected to carry out independent research, they will
work closely with a faculty
mentor/supervisor and will also be encouraged to interact with PERFORM
research members to develop multidisciplinary research and collaborative
publications.

Fellows will be appointed for up to two years with a possibility of a
one-year extension. The start date is as of
September 2013, but no later than April 2014. The yearly salary range is
between $45,000 and $55,000 commensurate
with experience. In addition, an overall research budget will be allocated
for access to research platforms at PERFORM,
travel and consumable needs.

Applications review will start August 26th and continue until the position
is filled.
