Hi Cath

I would stress your role in upholding the integrity of the examination systems and ensuring that students have the best exam experience possible in order to improve their chances of achieving.  You’re not only coordinating physical resources (rooms, invigilators) you’re making sure that complex regulations are adhered to and that malpractice is detected.  You’re also recording accurate information about achievements on MIS systems to inform future decision-making.

In addition – if things go wrong in exams the consequences are far more severe than if somebody forgets to book food for a conference or to book a room – a student can lose a place at University and their future can be changed because of that.  Your team is there to make sure this doesn’t happen.

Just a few thoughts!

Regards

Lorna

Subject: Job Role

Hi

I am hoping to get some tips before I go into a meeting regarding my job role and salary.  We are currently advertising for two new positions, the first is for a Careers, Further and Higher Education Co-Ordinator, this is a term time plus 7 weeks contract and has a salary that pays £1152 more than my all year round role.

The second is for an Estates and Facilities Co-Ordinator this is an all year round role and pays exactly the same as my role.

I am not happy as in opinion I have far more responsibility than an Estates Co-Ordinator and equal responsibility to the Careers FE and HE adviser, I have requested a meeting with my line manager to discuss this and I am going to explain that I believe I have far more responsibility but would be grateful for any other tips/suggestions on making my case. I don’t want it to come across as a general rant and moan but I do feel very undervalued.

Thanks

Cath Smith
