Hi Cath,

It's not negative at all. Like you, I'm not worrying whether it's acceptable to universities as I've got far bigger issues to concern myself with! I was just being kind to one of our Senior Lecturers who was struggling to find any information, so offered to post it on JISC as I thought someone one there would know.

Hi

We are also offering it for the first time this year, as the Senior Management have decided to run it I am not going to worry myself over whether it will be acceptable to universities.

Sorry if that sounds negative.

Subject: Edexcel IGCSE English

Hi,

Has anyone any experience of offering the Edexcel L1/L2 Certificate in English, which is a version of the IGCSE approved for use in UK schools and FE?

We're running it for the first time this year, but are wondering whether it's generally accepted by HE institutions as equivalent to a GCSE C grade. We've contacted a few local HE institutions, and whilst some will accept it , others won't. It seems to be at the discretion of individual admissions tutors and may depend on the subject area being applied for. I know it's an issue that doesn't really involve the Exams Dept, but names of any HE institutions which you know for sure will accept it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
