Hi Paul We are also offering the Cambridge 0522 iGCSE English as a First Language. The attached document comes from the CIE website and shows the HE institutions that will accept the qualification. After I flagged up a report saying that some HE institutions wouldn't accept this as an equivalent, the Head of English suggested that it would be the Russell group unis that wouldn't. Has anybody else researched this? We're running it for the first time this year, but are wondering whether it's generally accepted by HE institutions as equivalent to a GCSE C grade. We've contacted a few local HE institutions, and whilst some will accept it , others won't. It seems to be at the discretion of individual admissions tutors and may depend on the subject area being applied for. I know it's an issue that doesn't really involve the Exams Dept, but names of any HE institutions which you know for sure will accept it would be greatly appreciated.
