Hi Lauren

We import existing UCI numbers from our feeder schools into unite. This does not affect the generation of candidate numbers. When generating candidate numbers it will allocate a four digit number, this is not linked to the UCI and for us this does not cause any problems. It is the UCI number that is important to awarding bodies so they can tie up existing results, especially AS and A2.

If you generate new UCI numbers, then these would normally include the four digit candidate number as part of the UCI.

Hope that helps!

Subject: UCI NUMBERS/CANDIDATE NUMBERS - UNIT-E

Hi,

Hope you are all ok?

After my post a while ago regarding UCIs I decided the best course of action would be for the college to implement existing UCI's instead of generating new UCI's for each candidate.

However I am now in a position whereby I need to generate candidate numbers. In day's the candidate number and UCI number would have been linked by Unit-E (candidate number the last four digits of the UCI number it had generated).

Can anyone who uses unit-e and imports existing uci numbers for new students let me know:

how you generate candidate numbers?
does this candidate number link to the uci number?
anything else you can think I may need to query!

Many thanks,

Lauren McLachlan
