The New School looks to make a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Anthropology. The ideal candidate will complement the department’s emphasis on interdisciplinarity, innovative pedagogy, and conceptually rigorous and ethnographically grounded scholarship.

Geographic area and subject specializations are open. Research foci may include but are not limited to urban design, science & technology, and media.  We particularly encourage applicants whose scholarly work and intellectual practice reaches across theoretical and disciplinary divides. The University is pursuing stronger ties between the three divisions of The New School:  The New School for Social Research, Parsons, School of Design, and The New School for Public Engagement.  We encourage applications from candidates who will contribute to this initiative.

Applicants must have PhD in hand by August 31, 2013. Please send a letter of application, a current CV, and the names of three referees by November 1, 2013 to: Anthropology Search Committee, The New School, 6 E.16th St., 9th Floor, NY, NY 10003.
