‘“A dog of that house shall move me to stand”: Bodies, rest and motion in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.’ This paper will examine issues of rest and motion, specifically antithetical images of static movement, in both Shakespeare’s ‘original’ play-text and its subsequent performance and appropriation within dance.
Themes: dance and literature, dancing within books/plays/poems, adaptations of literary works into dance works
