Dear colleagues,

I am looking for recent(ish) publications exploring the support systems and professional development pathways available to artists working in contemporary theatre, live art and performance.
Any suggestions on publications exploring the emerging - mid career - established problem/model/idea/etc. will also be gladly received.

Please respond off-list to [log in to unmask] - I will collate the list of suggestions and send it back to the full list of all interested parties' perusal at a later date.

Please also see below my signature block for an invitation to Taking Our Bearings North.

Taking Our Bearings North:

Meet the Producers/Programmers:

Compass Live Art (Yorkshire) has been working with Ilana Mitchell (Wunderbar, Newcastle) and Tamsin Drury (hÅb / Word of Warning, Manchester) to organise a series of gatherings across the northern region under the name of Taking Our Bearings North.

We aim to bring together artists, practitioners, producers, curators and academics. The purpose is to widen our networks and increase communication and therefore opportunities for artists.

Following an initial meeting in Leeds on 24 January 2013 we are planning our next gathering in:

Manchester at Z-Arts on October 11th 2.00-5.00pm

http://www.z-arts.org/about-us/getting-here/

Inspired by a similar event in the North East, we have invited a number of producers and programmers from each region (NW, NE, Yorkshire) to make a short presentation to outline the opportunities they have coming up for artists in the next 12 months – this could be programming, platforms, mentoring, anything of the kind. It is for multi disciplinary work.

The format for the afternoon will be 10 -12 presentations from across the northern regions, followed by refreshments and informal networking and ending with a coming together to share issues of common interest. There will also be a chance in the meeting for anyone not presenting to mention their own events and opportunities.

You are cordially invited to join us in Manchester on 11 October. The event is free but we would ask you to book so we can keep track of numbers.

Please RSVP to [log in to unmask] as soon as possible.
