The National Archives and the Scottish Council on Archives and partners are leading two funding bids to the Heritage Lottery Fund to fund a series of year long traineeships over a three year period. To develop the second stage of the bids we are now inviting expressions of interest in hosting a trainee, from a range of archive services in England and Scotland.

The costs of traineeships are met by the project and the trainees receive a bursary. Trainees undertake a real project for their host organisation, as well as study and career development opportunities. Host organisations would provide trainees with a supportive environment, a real project to complete and a range of opportunities for development and learning. Host organisations should be able to host the trainees for all of their traineeship (1 year) or for a shorter period (at least 1 month).

Potential host organisations are invited to attend a webinar on 27th September, after which applications to become a host will be accepted. The closing date for applications to host is the 11th October.

If you are interested in getting involved with this worthwhile scheme, eligibility criteria can be found at http://www.scottisharchives.org.uk/news/announcements/hlf.
