The National Collaborating Centre for Women’s and Children’s Health (NCC-WCH) is a multi-disciplinary, health services research team.  It is part of the Quality and Knowledge Directorate of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) who are commissioned by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to produce evidence-based clinical guidelines for the NHS in England and Wales.

These roles present opportunities for researchers wishing to develop their systematic reviewing skills over a wide range of study designs in the context of developing clinical guidelines for NICE. The Research Associate – Statistician will additionally provide guidance to colleagues in the NCC-WCH on the selection, application and interpretation of statistical methodology relevant to systematic reviewing as part of guideline development.

Research Associate - Statistician: Salary £33,253 to £34,163 per annum plus benefits (Grades are currently under review)
Supervised by a senior member of the technical development team you will contribute to all aspects of the systematic reviewing process and conduct complex analysis. A relevant postgraduate qualification in statistics or a closely related subject (for example, an MSc in medical statistics), and knowledge, understanding and experience of a broad range of techniques relevant to medical statistics are essential for this post. The ideal candidate will also have experience of: working in a statistical consultancy role; systematic reviewing with excellent quantitative skills and experience of meta-analysis; experience of network meta-analysis.

Research Assistants: Salary £26,865 to £27,585 per annum plus benefits (Grades are currently under review)
Supervised by a senior member of the technical development team you will support the team by undertaking critical appraisal and accurate data extraction. You will also prepare the initial analysis and draft of systematic reviews. A relevant postgraduate qualification (for example, an MSc in health services research, epidemiology, or medical statistics) and experience of critical appraisal over a wide range of study designs are essential for this post.
