What is wrong is the Institute's understanding of it, which it chooses to see as CILIP with the strapline the "The Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals". The current name is: "Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals" and the acronym is CILIP. Seen that way round it is difficult to fault except for the fact it doesn't mention 'knowledge'. I do not see anything wrong with the new name and strapline (if we must change) but believe that the word 'Institute' should be a part of the name as well as of the strapline. My view is that this is treating just one symptom of a disease rather than curing it systemically. I don't believe there is anything wrong with the current name. I do believe there I something tragically wrong with the profession not being able to tackle its enforced and rapid reconfiguration head on.
