ASM Announces 2014 Subscription Rates (www.journals.asm.org<http://www.journals.asm.org/>)

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is pleased to announce 2014 subscription prices for our 9 primary research and 2 review journals. To maximize the selection of content covering basic and clinical microbiology research, subscribers may also select from our All-Inclusive, Basic, and Clinical packages. A complete list of rates can be found at http://journals.asm.org/site/subscriptions/instcost.xhtml<http://journals.asm.org/site/subscriptions/instcost.xhtml?utm_source=listserv&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2014priceannouncement>.

In January, ASM launched Genome AnnouncementsTM, (http://genomea.asm.org/<http://genomea.asm.org/?utm_source=listserv&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2014priceannouncement>) an online-only, fully open-access journal. This title publishes brief reports stating that the genome of a particular organism has been sequenced and deposited, providing a citable record of the corresponding GenBank submission. The new journal will be included in online subscriptions to Eukaryotic Cell(r), Journal of Bacteriology(r), and Journal of Virology(r). Please be sure to link to Genome AnnouncementsTM from your institution's collection.

For the 2014 subscription year, ASM will offer the following new features to online subscribers:

  * SIPX-This copyright management and digital document delivery service provides a faster and easier way to create digital course reading lists that is less costly for the student and provides the institutional library with higher visibility and full credit for the services they provide. For more information, please visit the SIPX website (http://www.sipx.com/).
  * JUSP-The Journal Usage Statistics Portal (JUSP) provides a "one-stop shop" for participating UK higher education and research council libraries to view, download and analyze usage reports. For more information, please visit the JUSP website (http://jusp.mimas.ac.uk/).

ASM will continue to offer authentication via IP, Shibboleth and Athens; COUNTER-compliant reports available via Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) protocol; and a centralized administration page to manage library customization tools.

ASM journals are edited by working scientists and deliver maximum value to your library's collection, as illustrated by these data from the 2013 JCR(r):

  * ASM journals publish over 25% of all Microbiology articles and account for nearly 35% of all Microbiology citations

  * ASM publishes 3 journals in the Top 20 of Microbiology ranked by Impact Factor
  * ASM publishes the 4 highest-cited journals in Microbiology
  * ASM's Journal of Virology accounts for over one third of all Virology citations
  * ASM publishes the #1 journals ranked by Eigenfactor in Virology and Pharmacology & Pharmacy

All online subscriptions also include access to mBio(r) (http://mbio.asm.org/<http://mbio.asm.org/?utm_source=listserv&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2014priceannouncement>), which has emerged as a leading journal in the microbial sciences (Impact Factor of 5.621, ranked #15 by Impact Factor out of 116 journals in the Microbiology category). mBio's coverage of cutting-edge research in microbiology and allied fields are freely accessible upon publication.

If your institution did not subscribe to any online ASM journals in 2013, you are eligible for a free 3-month trial subscription to all 12 ASM journals. To take advantage of this offer, simply submit a trial request to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
