The Role

To assist in the delivery of high quality customer-focussed archive services at the University of the Arts London (UAL), which support the teaching, learning and research activities of its Colleges by participating in front-line services and administrative duties.

 

Assisting in the delivery of high quality customer-focussed archive services at the University of the Arts London, you will participate in front-line services and the day-to-day organisation and delivery of archives and special and collections in the University Archive and Special Collections Centre. In particular, you will be on the rota to collect items from the Strong room, and invigilate the use of materials in the Search room.  You will provide initial help to users with information enquiries relating to the archives and special collections held in the Centre, and will refer enquiries onto other staff in the team as necessary.  Other duties will include conservation procedures to repackage material in the archives, following best practice advocated by a conservator; opportunities for archival description, and day-to-day administrative tasks.

 

Your Profile

With relevant experience in an archive, library or customer service environment you will be able to work independently and have basic numeracy skills or experience of financial procedures. With your ability to ensure that accurate information is passed onto the most appropriate people in a timely fashion to improve working practices you will have experience of answering standard, predictable questions/queries from staff and students. You will have experience of working as a member of a team, providing support, assistance and cover where needed.
