A 4 year PhD studentship is available in the Department of Genomics of Common Disease, School of Public Health at Imperial College London in collaboration with Professor John Whittaker at GlaxoSmithKline, funded by a MRC CASE studentship. The aim of the project is to use copy number variation in the human genome as a tool for stratified medicine. The project will commence by defining a high resolution haplotype map of copy number variation in the human genome from UK10k and 1000 genomes sequence data, and then subsequently impute this variation in densely genotyped pharmacogenetic datasets from GlaxoSmithKline. The project will be supervised by Professor John Whittaker (GSK), Dr Lachlan Coin, Dr Michael Johnson, Dr Inga Prokopenko (Imperial College). The post is full time for a fixed-term for 4 years, commencing 2013/2014 and will be based at the Hammersmith Hospital Campus, London, with the opportunity to spend up to a year at GlaxoSmithKline in Stevenage.
