We are seeking a senior Statistician to work with the public health groups in the new Nuffield Department of Population Health.  

This is a new post which will require you to provide statistical leadership and support to researchers working in a number of public health disciplines, and to contribute to undergraduate and MSc teaching of statistics, as well as helping DPhil students with planning and conducting statistical analysis.  Duties will also include curriculum development and supervision of postgraduate students and Academic Clinical Research Fellows, as well as the provision of statistical support and advice to staff making external research grant applications.  

You will also develop and manage your own programme of research, publishing your findings in peer-reviewed publications and presenting them at conferences. Developing and maintaining links with other statistical teams in the University will also be part of the role.

You will have a doctoral degree in healthcare-related statistics or epidemiology and a Masters in statistics or epidemiology.  Experience as a statistician, including experience of assisting with the design of studies for health research is essential, along with practical experience of managing large and complex datasets.  You will also be proficient with statistical software including STATA.  You will have experience in teaching at graduate level and be able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  We would also expect you to have publications commensurate with your stage of your career.  

This a permanent post and will be based at the Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford.
