School of Medicine - Division of Clinical Neuroscience - Stroke

Medical Statistician

£24,766 - £27,047 per annum, depending on skills & experience. Salary progression beyond this range is subject to performance

The Division of Stroke requires a Medical Statistician to support Divisional trials, which may include MRC ENOS (phase III: www.enos.ac.uk<http://www.enos.ac.uk>), HTA TARDIS (phase III: www.tardistrial.org/<https://bpm.nottingham.ac.uk/SWIFT.Web/mszsrc/Local%20Settings/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/Content.Outlook/6WFHMBWK/www.tardistrial.org/>), PODCAST (phase II: www.podcast-trial.org/<http://www.podcast-trial.org/>), HTA TICH-2 (phase III: http://tich-2.org/) and other Divisional studies. There will be the opportunity to collaborate in methodological research and study design, as well as supporting other researchers within the Division with their statistical analyses.  The successful candidate will play an important role in the division's research activities, including the design of trials, oversight of trial processes, analysing and reporting of trials, and meta analyses.  There will be the opportunity to attend UK and international conferences. Candidates may wish to register for a PhD/MPhil.

Candidates should have a degree in statistics or related subject (or equivalent), and ideally a higher degree in medical statistics, (or equivalent).  Candidates must be able to demonstrate good communication and teamwork skills, excellent presentation skills, proven statistical and computing skills, the ability to communicate statistical issues to non-statisticians and have an aptitude for both applied and methodological research.

This full time post will be offered for an indefinite period however the funding that supports this post is available to 31 July 2015.  Some out of hours work and travel within the UK may be required.
