Dear all,

The 2014 PSA conference will be held in Manchester 14-16th April, as a specialist group we are allowed to submit up to four panels. At this stage please could people email me if they have an idea for either a panel or a paper. The deadline is 27th October; I'll send a follow up email again in early September.

Best wishes
Liz

Dear PSA Specialist Group Convenor,

We are writing to you in our capacity as Academic Convenors of the 64th Annual Conference of the Political Studies Association, which will be held in Manchester, 14-16 April 2014. The new website for next year’s conference is now live, with details of the conference theme, venue and travel.  http://www.psa.ac.uk/conference/2014-conference

The general Call for Papers will go out in our newsletter on Tuesday. However, we are writing to each of you to invite your specialist group to submit proposals for up to four panels at the conference. (If you feel it is essential that your group be allocated more than four panels, please let us know; we’ll do our best to accommodate any reasonable requests).

Please note that it will be the responsibility of each specialist group to submit the panel proposals using the facility available on the conference website; and that all details requested on the website should be supplied for all panel members. Please also note that any postgraduate students presenting are eligible to apply to the PSA Postgraduate Access Fund for financial support to attend the conference.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to inform you that, as in other recent PSA conferences, we will be running a Specialist Guest Speaker competition. This allows specialist groups to bid for funding to bring an overseas colleague to the conference (where they would be expected to contribute, normally by giving a paper or appearing on a roundtable session). The maximum amount that can be applied for is £1000 per speaker (all moneys to be spent on costs directly related to the speaker attending the conference). There will be a maximum of five awards available; priority will be given to applications that address the conference theme (‘Rebels & Rebellions’), and the closing date for applications is 27 October 2013.

We look forward to receiving your proposals, and to welcoming you to Manchester next April. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you require any further information.

With all best wishes
