There will be a strong theme of official and social statistics running through the Royal Statistical Society’s annual international conference which will be held in Newcastle from 2-5 September 2013.

Highlights on the conference programme include:

 

Tuesday 3 September:

 

Campion (President’s Invited) Lecture

Speaker: Sir Mark Walport FRS (Chief Scientific Adviser to UK Government)

 

Invited sessions:

·         Communicating and interpreting statistical evidence in the administration of criminal justice

·         Data sharing and linking - the methodological, legal and practical issues

·         Britain: what are we thinking and feeling?

 

Wednesday 4 September:

 

Invited sessions:

·         Beyond 2011 - future production of population and socio-demographic statistics

·         The RPI and the CPI - where statistical and political issues collide

 

Contributed sessions:

·         Census & Surveys

·         Population & Migration Statistics

 

Thursday 5 September:

 

Invited sessions:

·         Measuring Child Poverty

·         Evidence and measures of progress in international development
