I can cope with the fainting it’s the vomiting with it that really bugs me. We had one guy who would go of everytime he came into the clinical area J

I have also recently had someone faint because I touched him with cotton wool!  He omitted to tell me had had a problem with this since early childhood. Heat certainly not helping, and it's always the tall lanky ones one has to sort out!

Diane,

It is also Ramadan and we avoid, where possible, vaccinating or doing venepuncture for those that are fasting. I am not sure if this could be a factor.

Hello list

I have just realised that I had one young man faint last week during venepuncture and one  the week before after an injection. I am putting this down to the hot weather as this is a higher rate  than usual.

Has anyone else noticed an increase?

I wonder if this could be a combination of vaso-vagal effects with mild dehydration.

Perhaps I should start advising people to have a couple of glasses of water before such procedures...
