The “Jodi Awards” will celebrate their 10th anniversary this year by presenting their Awards, in association with the Museums Association, at the MA’s Annual Conference on Monday 11 November 2013<x-apple-data-detectors://9> in Liverpool.

Nominations are now being sought for the Jodi Awards 2013. The deadline for Award nominations is Friday 2 August 2013<x-apple-data-detectors://10>.

The “Jodis”, as they are affectionately known, have become synonymous with the best use of digital technology in widening access to information, collections, learning and creativity for disabled people in museums, galleries, exhibitions, libraries, archives and other heritage sites.

This year, three Public Engagement awards will replace the previous award categories for 'Digital Access Online' and 'Digital Access Onsite'. These new Awards will be for:

□ Access planning and user involvement – granted to projects demonstrating exemplary levels of user involvement in a digital heritage project.

□ Innovation – awarded in recognition of innovative technical solutions which increase access to heritage for disabled people.

□ Legacy and Impact –awarded to projects that are actively developing and increasing access to heritage for disabled people.

The International Jodi Award for best website outside the UK will also be presented at the Museum Association Conference.

Previous winners include: RNIB Penfriend at MShed for making a low cost audio solution for access to information labels (Digital Access On Site Award); Berlin Für Blinde for a visitor guide for visually impaired people in Berlin (International Award), and the British Dental Association Museum for a film-making project with learning disabled participants (Digital Access for people with a Learning Disability Award).

The prized Jodi Awards are presented by the Jodi Mattes Trust to organisations demonstrating excellence in accessible digital culture. The Awards are being run for the first time this year by a committee of volunteers on behalf of the Jodi Mattes Trust. Members of the committee, drawn from the museum and heritage sector, have taken responsibility for supporting the assessment and judging of the Awards and are organising and managing all aspects of the awards ceremony.
