Hello Gemma,
This has got an interesting debate going - the guidelines are to make sure you're within the law and respect privacy - so you shouldn't attribute an opinion to someone who thought they were in a private meeting or had sent a direct email to you. Also we wouldn't expect to see a list of names and addresses that were only meant for circulation within a discreet group (this has happened!).

Names of conference speakers would normally be in the public domain, on websites, published in widely distributed catalogues, so it would be completely fair to include them in your portfolio (unless you're attending an AGM of superhero alter egos where real identities have to be kept secret).

All the best
Michael

Subject: Names of speakers - make anonymous?

Hello,

I am just finishing off my portfolio and am thinking about what I need to make anonymous.

I have removed names from emails and work documents, but am not sure about the names of speakers at events, e.g. CILIP in London talks and TeachMeet events and also conferences.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Gemma Bayliss
