Dear Chris.
That's not quite what I said, see: https://twitter.com/MartinInfoMan/status/354565393836290049
We record some objects that are younger than 300 years old, but for practical reasons we cut off in line with the Treasure Act. There are examples of trench art and cap badges recorded on our database for instance: http://finds.org.uk/database/search/results/q/world+war/broadperiod/MODERN
And Laura Burnett wrote about trench art here: http://finds.org.uk/blogs/somerset/2012/12/17/possible-trench-art-ring/
Hope you enjoyed your cooling drink....
Yours,
Dan

Subject: First World War finds in PAS

Further to yesterday's discussions, Martin Newman contacted the PAS and was told that they only record material over 300 years old but that the FLOs should report finds of other 'interesting' stuff to the local HER.
I was going to tell you at the end of the meeting but was too keen to get a cooling drink!

We've had some finds from an unknown rifle range reported in this way (probably pre WWI) so it may work.
