GIS New Business Support Consultant

Starting salary £30 to £35K plus car (2+ Years experience)

The client is a highly successful UK company with a global presence in the geospatial industry.

As you would expect from a market leader, they are at the forefront of all of the current technologies from  cloud computing and big data to web-hosting and on-line map delivery.

Year on year business growth has created an immediate vacancy for the type of GIS professional who enjoys a support-based job and prefers human interaction to sitting at a computer screen.

 

This customer-facing role offers a highly varied job content that embraces all aspects of supporting the sale of GIS-based data and software solutions to a diverse customer base. The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in GIS and also have solid experience of working with Desktop and Client/Server GIS products, with emphasis on Microsoft Windows technology.

The ideal hire is a customer services-orientated GIS professional who has the experience or aptitude for new business support.  The job entails working closely with the sales team at the preliminary stage of new business projects.  You will learn to gather technical requirements information which you’ll translate into a compelling bid proposal for the customer.  For this you need strong command of written documentation production in addition to a well organised approach to project-based work.

 

Of equal importance is an empathy with sales which includes the ability to convey technical features to customers as benefits. Technically, some knowledge of the .Net framework, web-hosting technology and internet/intranet delivery tools would also be particularly desirable.
