GCG are hosting a joint symposium with SPPC in Edinburgh on the 26th and
27th August, and would like to encourage all GCG Members to offer a talk
or poster presentation for this meeting.

Presentations can be on any subject related to palaeontological
preparation, conservation, curation or collections, including the history
of geology.

The symposium is hosted jointly by National Museums Scotland and the
University of Edinburgh.

Registration for the above symposium is now open (see the SVPCA web-site -
http://svpca.org). The registration fee is £18, students £10.

The provisional programme is:

Monday 26th August -
16.00-18.00 - Registration at Pollock Halls, University of Edinburgh

Tuesday 27th August -
From 08.00 - Registration in the Grant Institute, University of Edinburgh
08.00-13.00 - Presentations in the Grant Institute, University of Edinburgh
14.00-16.00 - Visit to National Museums Scotland Collection Centre and
Laboratories.

Abstracts for the above meeting are welcomed. Abstracts should be written
in English and may be on any aspect of palaeontological preparation,
conservation, curation or collections. They should contain the name(s) of
the author(s), their address(es), a succinct title and body of text which
should be no longer than 250 words.

Abstracts should be submitted via the SVPCA web-site following
registration, or
alternatively sent to me, Jim Spencer at [log in to unmask], for
forwarding.

*The deadline for abstract submission is Friday 19th July*, following which
abstracts will be reviewed by the organising committee. Successful
abstracts will be included in a printed volume available at the meeting and
also in PDF form on the SVPCA web-site.

Presentations will be given in the Hutton Lecture Theatre of the University
of Edinburgh and will be twenty minutes in length (fifteen minutes
presentation and five minutes for questions). Presentations may be in
either PowerPoint (Office 2010 version) or Adobe Reader (Version XI).
The equipment in the theatre uses the Windows 7 operating system. If you
have other requirements you need to
bring your own laptop and inform the organisers.

Poster presentations will be made in the Grant Institute of the University
of Edinburgh. Poster boards conform to the standard A0 dimensions in
landscape format. Posters must be affixed with Velcro tape, which will be
provided.

Details of the 61st Symposium of Vertebrate Palaeontology and Comparative
Anatomy, which immediately follows the GCG/SPPC symposium, on Wednesday
28th to Friday 30th August with associated field trip on Saturday 31st
August, can also be found on the SVPCA web-site.
